5 out of 5 stars Amazing Sound Great Features   September 11, 2009

I am very impressed with this receiver. I must first say that I have never owned an amp of this quality but I have always owned Yamaha equipment. Shipping was on time with no problems and I got the unit before I even had speakers for it. I went with Polk Audio set up RTI A7's a Pro 500 sub and RTI rears and the sound is amazing. I have the amp set up for Bi-amp and it took me and the wire installer a few moments to figure out the Subwoofer set up but once we did we turned on the PS3 Blu-ray and put a movie in. The sound was simply amazing and I can't wait to do some driving with the new sound. I am very impressed that the unit is now converting my 720 DVD player to 1080i I had no idea a receiver could even do that.
Advanced menus can take some time to figure out but it appears you can make the amp do almost anything you could imagine.

replaced a DSP A970 had for 11 years, this unit is absolutely great.Yamaha quality top to bottom. used the auto speaker setup worked great. Manuel is typical, have to read the whole thing,no issue with a new toy!! great price from EXPO.You wont be disappointed with this unit.

5 out of 5 stars fantastic receiver   August 28, 2010

I could not be happier with this unit. It is spectacular! Numerous inputs, HDMI that works without hassles, HD up-converting so I don't have to pay for HD TV, and it even calibrates itself using the included microphone.

This receiver is at the high-end of the mid-range of receivers. There are cheaper units out there (that aren't nearly as good), and there are better units out there (that cost several times more). But for the money it is very difficult to beat this unit. And, frankly, very few people have the ear to appreciate the difference between this receiver and others costing much more.

I am very pleased with this unit, and I'm very fussy about my audio. You cannot go wrong with this receiver.

And regarding the vendor, there was a problem with the first unit they sent. They handled it, sent me a new one, no hassle. They paid for return shipping of the defective unit, and the new one arrived quickly. They made it painless, and I appreciate that level of service.

5 out of 5 stars HUGE Bang for your buck!   August 28, 2010

This is one receiver I plan on keeping for a long time. I've been trying several receivers over the past 3-4 years and I feel as if I finally found one that does pretty much everything I want & does it very well! The positives are great sound & power, plenty of inputs for HDMI, fantastic upscaling to 1080p for my Tivo which is 1080i, plenty of sound modes, the list goes on. It's not perfect, it's one of the few receivers where I had to really look through the owners manual. Although after the first 4-5 hours of playing with the options, it became a cinch moving around the menus and changing options. Some of the initial mic setups were a little off but nothing too major and they were easily remedied after a few trial and error playthroughs. You'd be hard pressed to find a receiver that does what this does for the price!

Searching for a Yamaha receiver for my brother and I found a great deal at Electronics Expo that saved him over $600. I was pointing him toward Denon which I have but he has his mind set on the Yamaha RXV1800 and found the RXV1900 for $699.07 shipped with the coupon code WS901X5750! The RXV1900 has all the bells and whistles, great bass response and power and gives Denon a run for the money.
