Product Description If your vehicle does not provide a method to connect the audio output ofthe Harman Kardon DP1US Drive + Play to your audio system, then you can use this wired FM adapter for a direct connection to your radio's antenna input. This FM Transmitter Adapter delivers a superior audio connection between the Harman Kardon Drive + Play and your car's stereo system. Unlike other FM adapters, Harman Kardon's DPFMT 1US is uniquely designed to allow a selection of stations on the Drive + Play rather than requiring adjustments behind the car's radio. Great accesory for HK's ipod adaptor March 29, 2007 Dr. Díaz-Pizarro (Mexico City) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The wired FM transmiter works great, the interference is minimal, you can only notice it between songs or when the song volume is very low. It is very easy to connect, even in European cars (I own a Renault), all you need is an antenna adapter.
If your stereo does not support RCA inputs (which offers the best sound quality), the best way to connect the HK adaptor for the ipod is this cable. It reduces interference significantly (I tried it both ways: wired and wirelessly and the difference is obvius)
Harman Kardon DPFMT 1 US Drive and Play Wired FM Transmitter Adapter August 26, 2007 Wayne Sheppard (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Simple to install and makes the world of difference using my drive and play....virtually removes all interference but be aware the quality of your recording will be put to the test. The lower the quality, the more it stands out using this transmitter. All in all though, 10 out of 10!
Awesome results July 12, 2008 D. Kelley (Cincinnati, OH) I had great results with this product when I installed in my '94 BMW 740i. Depending on the amount of stations in your area, you'll sometimes get some small, momentary distortion in the high end of the sound spectrum, but mostly, it sounds great. It is much better than any traditional FM transmitter for the iPods that I've used. The sound is very good. Of course, if you have RCA jacks for an auxiliary jack, use them instead. If not, you won't be disappointed.
However, keep in mind that this product is specifically for the Drive+Play unit. I understand that the new ones come with this unit, but if you think you need it, make sure that it does.
No more static April 6, 2009 Andrew Schwartz (Dubuque, IA) I had installed the drive and play and was experiencing static so I installed the FM direct cable and it worked great. No more static!
Great little adapter April 8, 2009 Pamela S. Fahlbush This wired adapter makes it so much easier when on a trip. You usually don't have to change radio stations since you are connected in directly rather than through the FM Transmitter.
