| Customer Reviews: Awesome Ipod Wireless Dock (about time!) June 30, 2009 William J. Moyer (Pensacola, Fl, USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this off Amazon for $179 and free shipping. There were lots of price variations, from $179 to $249. This Ipod dock works with almost all Ipod models to date. A little pricy but well worth it for me. I had my music system set up in our sunroom with additional speakers in our party room and also outside on the patio. My Ipod had been connected to my receiver (not a Marantz), so unless I was in the sunroom, I had to get up and go over to the Ipod/receiver to change music. Now I can actually carry the Ipod around with me room to room and select music regardless of where I am in the house. I admit that this dock was an overkill for me because it does alot of things I'm not taking advantage of (e.g., video). Also because my stereo is not Marantz, the remote won't let me change the volume. (maybe an excuse to buy me a new receiver, huh?)...Anyway the box is filled with goodies, as the product description shows. If you're looking for a solid wireless Ipod dock, look no further, you've found it!
Coolest Ipod Dock November 8, 2009 Mickey Vandre (Thomasville, Georgia United States) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've been eying this dock since I bought a Marantz receiver six months ago. The price is steap though.
Started looking at Amazon's Japanese webpage (where I live) and found it for around $90 (with shipping). Maybe the low price is because Japanese tend to favor their own brands and are not as familiar with Marantz. So, I jumped and bought it.
The only problem I had with installation was with the two network cables connecting the base and receiver. They were marked one black and one white, but you need to follow the letters (V and A?). The IR sensor wouldn't work and the dock overheated. After fixing that, it worked as described.
The base unit acts as an additional IR receiver for your receiver's remote, which I found to be a bit finicky having to be in front of the receiver. Now my remote works anywhere in the room.
The cradle comes with bluetooth, so you can carry your Ipod with you to play you music and control the receiver. The base station can be located away from the main receiver this way, but you will not be able to use the station as a IR receiver or play video or the slideshow (which doesn't look that great anyway, afterall it is an Ipod's video). Apparently, you can also pair your Iphone or Itouch to the bluetooth and not use the cradle at all. I have a 3G, so I need the cradle.
I kept the dock wired to allow for the IR flasher (which will also supply power to the dock through the network cables, so no power supply is needed). Otherwise, I would have put the dock next to my PC with a second power supply that was included. I'll see how things go and keep this as an option since the cradle also has a USB port that should be able to synch the Ipod.
There is also a dial on the cradle to adjust the fit for most any version of Ipod. I read that the cradle isn' compatible with the Iphone, but someone said it can be made to work.
By the way, this should also work with any other receiver, just not sure that the IR remote control will work for you. The package says it doesn't.
Anyone who owns an Ipod obviously spends money on the cool factor and this is one cool compliment to your Ipod.
