TCi Series In-Wall/In-Ceiling Loudspeakers are the performance alternative for custom installed sound systems. They give you Total Control over your Total Custom built-in audio installation with superior sound, superior user controls and superior value. Use round TCi speakers anywhere you need high performance sound but don't have the room or the desire for even the smallest of freestanding loudspeakers. They're perfect for use in locations that demand extreme durability because they feature moisture resistant materials (they're perfect for bathrooms). The 15-degree Offset Drive Unit means more uniform coverage and better imaging. Mix and match TCi In-Wall/In-Ceiling Loudspeakers with Polk Audio RTi Series loudspeakers to create a voice-matched system boasting a realistic surround sound environment without the space requirements of traditional speaker systems (RTi front stage, TCi rear surrounds for example). Sold singly (packaged one per box). Single units can be used for center channel applications in stealth installs! Dynamic Balance(TM) polymer composite driver for smooth wide-range response with low distortion. Aimable 1" silk dome tweeter with neodymium magnet for clear, detailed highs and direct control; excellent imaging even for off-axis listening positions. 15-degree Offset Drive Unit for more midrange clarity and directionality. Wide dispersion design for uniform sound-coverage throughout even large rooms. Durable, moisture resistant materials, including Butyl Rubber surrounds, for safe use in kitchen, bath & sauna. Infinite Baffle Tuning uses the virtual enclosure of in-wall space for superior bass response. Paintable, powder-coated Aluminum Grilles allow TCi Series speakers to virtually disappear in your room! Conveniently accessible front panel controls: Tweeter Level Switch offers flat and â3db selection for more sound control, and the Wall Distance

5 out of 5 stars I didn't think in-ceiling speakers could sound this good!   June 14, 2010

For the last 8 years I've been using a set of Polk RM6700 surround speakers and a Polk PWS303 sub to power my home theater setup. This has worked OK, but I recently got the itch to make some upgrades; and it seemed like a good idea to get in-ceiling speakers for surrounds instead of having speakers suspended from the ceiling like I had before.

Originally, I was going to buy a pair of the TC60i speakers as surrounds; but, when I saw the price of the RC60i's on Amazon, I just couldn't resist. Unfortunately, after listening to them for a couple of days against my previous smaller RM3250 satellites - I decided that they just weren't cutting it. Honestly, the RC60i speakers don't even hold there own vs. the sats with 3.25" drivers in tiny enclosures. They sounded kind of hollow with the empty space behind them. (They were installed on the first floor of a 2-story house, so they don't have empty attic above them; but there is a lot of hollow ceiling between the floors.)

Lucky for me, the uninstall of the RC60i's went just as smoothly as the original install. I replaced the RC60i's with these TC60i surrounds that I had originally been looking at and the difference is amazing. The new TC60i's felt heftier and sound absolutely amazing with my new setup. I'm running 2 Polk OWM5's as right and left, a Definitive Technology ProCenter 2000, and 2 of these TC60i's as satellites.

The total install time for both in-ceiling speakers was around 30 minutes since I had already run wires through the ceiling for my previous speakers. I did buy some non-faced insulation from Home Depot that I packed behind them just to help fill the hollow space. I love that the drivers have a slight tilt, which really helps get them aimed into the listening area. If you don't mind cutting a couple of holes in the ceiling (which I don't), then you won't have any problem installing these.

As a side note, my Denon receiver set the crossover on these at 60Hz; which really helps get the surround effects behind us during movies since a lot less sound has to be offloaded to the subwoofer.

Overall, I would highly recommend these TC60i speakers as surrounds. Honestly, they are good enough to use as front speakers if you don't mind having front speakers on the ceiling.

fitted two of these as fronts then rc60,s as rears build quality is high noticeable difference with them and the rc60s gave them full range feeds from the onkyo amp no subwoofer and the sound is excellent so if space is limited and you don't want a sub great choice
